Photos and words are the most important things in the world to me. They are memories and a confirmation that I really do exist. I need their confirmation. Without them I am lost, adrift. They are the link to the past made real and the only way forward. For me, England is fear - fear of revelation.

What I hope to achieve is emotional confrontation. Subliminal affirmation of the spirit through the representation of the body.

My statement is ''You have to believe'' and to do so you have to strip yourself bare. This is not science, cynicism, or theory. In this case the personal is not just the political: it is all I have in this world.
